London Tech Week to showcase the best of the UK’s tech sector

This week, various locations across the capital will play host to London Tech Week, a festival celebrating the latest innovations within the sector.

Over 55,000 are expected to attend the festival’s 300 plus events, and the Business Leader team will be there to see what the latest trends are and what breaking tech news will be revealed.

London Tech Week will host a series of industry-leading speakers, including Sir Martin Sorrell (founder of WPP), James Wales (founder of Wikipedia), Michael Wignall (UK CTO at Microsoft) and Matthew Hancock (Minister for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport).

Other speakers from global businesses will give attendees a glimpse at their latest products, as well as what they feel the future of tech and innovation is going to be.

Twitter, Facebook, Virgin, SAP, GE, Santander, Café Nero, BT, Google and EDF are just some of the brands speaking during the week.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, launched the event yesterday. He said: “London is Europe’s largest technology hub and this year’s London Tech Week will again showcase they very best of the city’s vibrant, diverse tech ecosystem.

“From Kings Cross to Croydon, London is home to some of the best entrepreneurs and tech companies developing the latest cutting-edge technologies. We look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors from all over the world to experience the creative energy across the city and show them that London remains open to tech talent, innovation and investment.”

Zoe Osmond, London Tech Week Festival Director added: “This year’s London Tech Week is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. With over 200 events across the week, our events programme has something for everyone and will showcase the depth and breadth of London’s tech offering.

“Over the course of the week, we will convene global leaders from technology and business, as well as policy makers, entrepreneurs and creative talent to shine a spotlight on the companies and change makers having a transformational impact on business, lives and society.”

Throughout the week, the festival will showcase the latest transformational technologies and innovations including robotics, artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles.
