Tech firm reveals exactly what it feels like to drive up the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill in a supercar
Ever wondered what it feels like to sit in a supercar and compete in the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard Hillclimb?
Tech firm Sensum will reveal all the excitement, fear and adrenaline at this year’s Festival by kitting out five Porsche drivers with biometric sensors.
FoS Future Lab partner, Sensum, will wire the racers with chest-worn devices to show changes in their emotional states as they race up the 1.16-mile Hill.
The Sensum technology is able to track and measure biometrics like heart rate, skin conductance, facial expression and voice in real time. Using artificial intelligence it can determine what the driver is feeling at any given moment.
Sensum, which has clients including Ford, Jaguar, Red Bull, Unilever and the BBC, will be able to show spikes in emotion during the Goodwood Hillclimb including any near misses with the flint wall or hay bales plus how drivers react to the roar of the fans as they drive past the house.
The emotional experience of sprinting up the famous Hillclimb will then be displayed in real-time via large on-screen infographics at the FoS Future Lab, which is returning for a second year and is focusing on space exploration, autonomous transport, robotics and personal flight.
Visitors will be able to view displays and demonstrations, interact with some of the technology for themselves and learn more about these exciting innovations.
Tracey Greaves, Chief Commercial Officer of the Goodwood Group said: “Driving up the Goodwood Hill in a supercar is a truly unique and thrilling experience. We’re delighted Sensum will be with us this year to show just exactly what it feels like for a driver to complete the Hillclimb at high speeds.”
The Festival is renowned for attracting the best cars and most famous drivers in motoring. The 2018 running of the event is set to be no different as Goodwood marks its Silver Jubilee having been staged every summer since 1993.
